Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant General Zdravko Ponos has met with his Macedonian counterpart Miroslav Stojanovski. Ponos said that the problems in relations between Russia and NATO would not be good for Serbia. Ponos meets with Macedonian counterpart The lieutenant general said the fact that Serbia had warned that Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence would create an international precedent should not be any cause for celebration. Asked how relations between Russia and NATO and the situation in Caucasus could affect the rest of the region, Ponos said that something should be learned from the situation and steps should be taken to “make sure that the situation in the region does not escalate.” Asked the same question, Stojanovski said that the focus should be placed on regional cooperation in the Balkans.
