Anti-discrimination bill in pipeline

The human and minority rights minister says the govt. will soon submit to parliament a draft law against discrimination. At a conference devoted to Serbia's chairmanship of the “Decade of Roma inclusion 2005-2015”, Svetozar Ciplic pointed out that adoption of this law was very important for both ameliorating the plight of the Roma minority, which was exposed to different forms of discrimination, but also for Serbia's emancipation. The minister backed a Vojvodina initiative that representatives of the Roma population and experts should be included in the work of ministries and other state institutions dealing with issues affecting the Roma population, and agreed that this idea should be presented at European institutions. He said that in line with the new working agenda and job systematization, the Human and Minority Rights Ministry would hire experts of Roma origin.
