The SRS sec.-general says the formation of the Belgrade local govt. marks the beginning of the end of the multi-party system. Aleksandar Vucic told a press conference that cooperation between politically opposing parties, such as the Socialist Party of Serbia, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, showed that they had abandoned their principles and that they were run exclusively by personal interests. SRS: Multi-party system in peril “That shows that slowly but surely, the multi-party democracy in Serbia is being toppled and being prepared for complete abolishment,” said the Serb Radical Party (SRS) official, adding that the new city government, despite promising depoliticization, had ended up including only party members. Vucic said that the fact that no television station had been in Rajkovac near Mladenovac to cover the funeral of Ranko Panic, who died two weeks after suffering injuries during the SRS rally in Belgrade, “proves that Serbia is under a complete dictatorship.” “The SRS is appalled by the dictatorship that is ruling Serbia. Nothing like this has ever happened before, and it shows that we were right when we said that no-one is equal, not even in death,” he stormed. He said that the SRS would continue to call for punishments for those who were politically and criminally responsible for the death of Panic, adding that the party would ask the police for footage of the July 29 rally held in protest at the arrest of Radovan Karadzic. Speaking of the process being led against SRS leader Vojislav Sesej before the Hague Tribunal, Vucic denied media claims that Milorad Ulemek would be a defense witness, but said that he had helped with some information related to the indictment. He said that it was not certain whether Seselj would even present a defense.
