A high-ranking DSS official on Thursday stated that his party "will not obstruct parliament's work". Milos Aligrudic, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) whip, described his fellow DSS MPs as having been “constructive from the very start”. Opposition reacts to obstruction accusations His comments came in the wake of accusations from the ruling coalition in Belgrade today. “That [obstruction] is not our political tactic and we will not obstruct the parliament work. Our behavior will depend on challenges that we will be faced with. If we encounter an attempt of the regime to block the work of democratic institutions we will have to respond to such an attack,” Aligrudic told Tanjug news agency. He also said that the DSS "does not feel in the least" that statements made by Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, who said there was obstruction on the part of the opposition, refer to his party. “The reasons the speaker stated for an irregular interruption of the parliament sitting are not valid, rather her incapacity to head the parliament is behind this,” said Aligrudic, adding that “someone breaks the rules of the game, does not observe the Rules of Procedure, disobeys laws and then accuses the opposition of obstruction”. Meanwhile, also in Belgrade on Thursday, Serb Radical Party (SRS) Secretary General Aleksandar Vucic said that "the political fall in Serbia will be hot", underscoring that the party "will resort to all possible democratic forms of struggle against the current regime in Serbia, in parliament and outside of it". “We will work in parliament according to the agenda, but will always have in mind the interest of citizens. If the regime behaves contrary to the interests of citizens, we will know how to protect them. We do not intend to carry out what the regime and the regime media describe as an obstruction by the opposition, unless this is in a direct interest of Serbia's citizens,” Vucic told Tanjug. He continued to say that the special session of parliament was interrupted on July 21 "because the ruling coalition wanted this to happen", and not due to any obstruction. The session was cut short, Vucic concluded, because of the arrest of Radovan Karadzic.
