Renewed claims of Karadžić-Holbrooke deal

A former Bosnian ambassador to the UN claims there was an agreement between Radovan Karadzic and Richard Holbrooke. Holbrooke, a former high ranking U.S. State Department official, has previously on several occasions strongly denied the rumors. Renewed claims of Karadzic-Holbrooke deal However, Muhamed Sacirbej claims that a deal guaranteeing the former political leader of the Bosnian Serbs immunity from Hague prosecution if he withdraws from public life did exist. Speaking in a broadcast by Dutch Nova TV, Sacirbej reiterated his previous claims about the existence of a Karadzic-Holbrooke agreement. He specified that he “learned about this from a U.S. diplomat on the very day that the deal was made”. The former Bosnian Muslim official said he received the same assurances after Holbrooke met with Alija Izetbegovic. “The word deal was not used, but it was clear that there was some kind of agreement,” he told the television outlet. Sacirbej said he would agree to appear as a witness in Karadzic’s trial if the prosecutor comes to consider “this knowledge about an agreement with Holbrooke useful”.

However, Muhamed Šaćirbej claims that a deal guaranteeing the former political leader of the Bosnian Serbs immunity from Hague prosecution if he withdraws from public life did exist.
