The business community in Serbia is optimistic about economic forecasts for the next six months, a poll says. The Marketing Research Institute (IZIT) survey has shown that as many as 81 percent of them expect business conditions to improve, regardless of the likely increase of the inflation rate. Business community shows optimism Only eight percent of those interviewed count with an increase of prices in the next three months, while 23 percent of them believe that the prices will continue to increase in the next six months. One third of those polled expect raw material production costs to grow in the next three months, while 70 percent think the trend will continue until the end of the year. IZIT concludes that this optimism is based on the fact that the new government is now in place, which is expected to adopt new measures aimed at setting off dynamics of economic activities, particularly accelerating the privatization process and transformation of public companies. Businessmen expect the above, together with more direct foreign investments, to contribute to the promotion of the competitiveness of the Serbian economy. They also expect the state to invest more in infrastructure and to reduce taxes. The companies that took part in the survey expect industrial production to increase in the next six months, mainly in the consumer goods sector.
