A proposal to introduce a temporary constitution of the Belgrade city assembly has been circulated, B92 has learned. Yesterday, the City Press Service said that assembly constitutive session will resume on Monday, after being suspended last week when it became obvious parties could not agree to form a ruling majority. Interim solution suggested for Belgrade Now, an interim solution will be put up for a vote – to elect the oldest assembly member, Branko Belic of the Democratic Party (DS) as the body's president. The proposal will be tabled by the Democrats (DS) and the Socialists (SPS). And while SPS leader Ivica Dacic says this move would provide another month to agree on forming the city authorities, LDP president Cedomir Jovanovic revealed that his party will not support temporary solutions in the capital. "Unless there is agreement, there will be new elections. And there has been no agreement so far," warned Dacic. Last Sunday, the Socialists broke off a previously signed deal in Belgrade with the Radicals (SRS) and the DSS-NS. But they also said their cooperation with the DS-led coalition will not include the LDP. This party, which says temporary solutions would be to the detriment of citizens, expect the DS and its partners to understand the LDP's intentions "in the best possible way". "We expect new session that will fully constitute the city authorities to be scheduled right after the one on Monday," party official Ivan Randjelovic said. New elections will be called unless parties agree by July 22.
