A UN Development Program (UNDP) report has been presented in Priština indicating Kosovo is the poorest territory in the region.

A UN Development Program (UNDP) report has been presented in Pristina indicating Kosovo is the poorest territory in the region. According to the report, Kosovo has the highest rate of unemployment. World Bank figures show that 53 percent of the population are considered to be living in poverty, while unemployment is between 45 and 50 percent of the potential working population, the report states. UNDP: Kosovo poorest in region The UNDP’s Coordinator for Kosovo Frode Mauring says that the “report focuses on assistance to the poor“, and calls on the Kosovo government to improve market conditions and create better conditions for investors. “There can be no sustainable development without a sustainable increase in the level of employment,“ says Mauring, adding that private companies have a particularly important role to play in this context.
