Head of the International Civil Office in Kosovo Pieter Feith expects a new wave of recognitions of Kosovo very soon. “The government is doing what it can,“ Feith told Radio Kosovo, when asked how engaged the executive institutions had been in lobbying for Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence. Feith expecting "new wave of recognitions" He said that he believed that the World Bank and the IMF would respond positively to Kosovo’s membership application. Feith said that Kosovo’s membership would be approved by the autumn. Meanwhile, Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski said yesterday that the new government would take a decision on recognizing Kosovo at one of its first sessions. At a press conference with Albanian President Bamir Topi in Durres, Crvenkovski repeated that Macedonia did not yet have a definitive position on the issue of Kosovo independence. “Under our constitution, that is in the purview of the government. I presume that the issue will be included on the agenda of one of the first sessions after its formation,“ said the president. “Neither can I nor do I want to prejudge the government’s decision on this issue, but I can say that I am sure that it will be guided by our country’s national and state interests and the disposition of the majority of EU and NATO member-states, given that Macedonia is a candidate for membership of both these structures,“ he pointed out.
