Serbian parliament will on Monday meet in an extraordinary session to elect a new government. Previously, President Boris Tadic gave the mandate to put together a new cabinet to Mirko Cvetkovic, formally a non-partisan figure running on Tadic's Democrats (DS)-led five party pre-election coalition, "For a European Serbia". Parliament meets for cabinet vote The prime minister designate will read out his program and propose members of his cabinet to the lawmakers. Cvetkovic looks to have members of a total of seven parties in his government, including the DS, G17 Plus, Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), the Associated Pensioners Party (PUPS), the Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP), and the Party of Democratic Action (SDA). But the actual coalition will include two more parties, so far not mentioned in connection to cabinet portfolios: the league of Vojvodina Social Democrats (LSV) and United Serbia (JS). Yesterday, reports suggested that some of the personnel solutions will see Mladjan Dinkic (G17 Plus) adding the position of deputy PM to his economy portfolio, while Vuk Jeremic (DS) and Dragan Sutanovac (DS) will remain in charge of Serbia's foreign policy and defense, respectively. The Socialists will have infrastructure (Milutin Mrkonjic), mining and energy (Petar Skundric), and education (Zarko Obradovic). But their main gain will be leader Ivica Dacic taking over police as interior minister. He will also be one of Cvetkovic's deputies. The government will have 24 ministries and three deputy premiers, one without portfolio – to be led by Jovan Krkobic (PUPS). Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic has scheduled the parliament session for 10:00 CET on Monday. Unless MPs decide otherwise, the debate that will ensue after Cvetkovic's speech cannot last longer than five hours. After the end of the debate, the lawmakers will proceed to vote. In order to be elected, the proposed cabinet must have at least 126 out of 250 votes. After they have been elected, the premier and his ministers and deputies will take an oath. With this, the government's four year mandate will start. Previously, the DS and SPS led coalitions and ethnic minority parties announced they had the necessary majority in parliament.
