U.S. to donate USD 400mn to Kosovo

The U.S. has announced that it will allocate USD 400mn for Kosovo’s economy at a donors’ conference next week. The figure is part of the USD 1bn that the international community intends to set aside for the province’s economic growth. Regional investigative network Balkan Insight reported last month that the Kosovo authorities were hoping to receive EUR 3bn in aid, but, judging by announcements from foreign officials, it seems that the final figure will barely amount to a third of the planned total. The conference’s main objective will be to reduce unemployment in Kosovo, which is currently at around the 45 percent mark.
