As it takes over the EU presidency, France will work to back Serbia's pro-EU forces, and deploy EULEX in Kosovo, this country's officials say. French Minister for European Affairs Jean-Pierre Jouyet said in Brussels on Tuesday that assistance to the pro-European forces in Serbia and the deployment of the EULEX mission will be among the key challenges for France when it takes over from Slovenia on July 1. France reveals priorities in W. Balkans "The French presidency will have the challenge to deploy the EULEX and to provide support to the pro-European forces in Serbia within the context of the independence of Kosovo," Jouyet was quoted by Tanjug news agency, as he addressed A Balkans Balance Sheet, a high-level European policy summit in Brussels. The Western Balkans has a true European future, Jouyet said, "but it would not be sincere to pretend and claim that a future solution would be possible without changes in the institutional frameworks envisaged under the Lisbon Agreement, which was rejected by Ireland in a referendum".
