Although talks between “For a European Serbia” and the coalition grouped around the SPS haven’t begun, the DS’s Dragan Djilas says a solution will be reached soon. Djilas, the Democratic Party’s (DS) candidate for mayor of Belgrade, said that a deal would be made on forming governments in Serbia, Vojvodina and in the capital. DS: Govt. soon at all levels “The same parties will form governments in Serbia, Vojvodina and in Belgrade. The government that has been talked about in the media these last few days will be formed,” Djilas said. He told journalists in Grocka that he was confident of becoming mayor. He said that the only possible government that could be formed was one with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), and repeated that the doors were “wide open to all of those who share the fundamental ideas and principles we based the last government on.” The senior Democratic Party (DS) official said that the “For a European Serbia” coalition, led by the DS, could only accept forming a government on the European principles on which that coalition was originally formed, but that the doors were open to all who held similar views. "I’d like such a government to be formed in as many municipalities in Serbia as possible,” Djilas said, adding that “Belgrade cannot be run by an engine-driver in the shape of Vojislav Seselj.” Djilas also rejected the possibility of a temporary administration being introduced in Belgrade. He said that the DS had high coalition potential and cited the Grocka municipality where the DS, SPS, Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) and independent lists had joined forces to form a local authority.
