Serb Radical Party (SRS) candidate for Belgrade mayor Aleksandar Vucic says the coalition grouped round the SRS won't let Belgrade down, and will govern the city fairly. “I ask you to have faith in us, our honor and good name, and know that we will never let you down. We will fight to govern the city justly,” Vucic said after another rally in front of the city hall in protest against the decision to schedule the local assembly’s constitutive session for July 17. "SRS won't let Belgrade down" He said that he was “grateful to those who are concerned, and who expect those who won the elections to form the government” asking them to “persevere to the end.” “Justice will prevail, you will win, because everything we’re doing is for the people of Belgrade,” Vucic said, asking for a round of applause for SPS councilors, who he said had been “subjected to all, even media pressures, but are convinced that justice will prevail.” During the rally, a performance called the “Belgrade Alimpics” was held in front of the city hall building, with “sports” such as “throwing laws for distance,” “the sofa marathon with hurdles“, “kicking the electoral will of the citizens“, ”the swift disposal of important and compromising documents“, while “jumps from newly built bridges” were “canceled” because no bridges had been built. Various people attended the rally, including opera singer Oliver Njego, actor Tihomir Arsic, director Bratislav Petkovic, and athlete Dusan Savic. The organizers announced that there would be more similar rallies. Aleksandar Vucic (Beta, archive)
