Macedonian PM Nikola Gruevski has warned that if there are any violent incidents at Sunday’s re-vote, Albanian parties could be excluded from parliament. Voting will be repeated at 187 polling stations tomorrow, predominantly in areas with majority Albanian populations where the results of the original ballot were declared null and void because of irregularities and violence in which one person was killed and eight were injured. Gruevski in warning to Albanian parties The re-votes cannot affect the final outcome—the victory of Gruevski and his VMRO-DPMNE party—but it could determine which is the biggest Albanian party in parliament. The prime minister said that he would form a coalition with the most popular minority party, though he said that VMRO would not “form a coalition with any party that got the majority of its votes through irregularities.” “We’d prefer to work without an Albanian partner,” said Gruevski. Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, whose country is heading the EU presidency, appealed for fair elections. “I know you’re aware that the elections could hamper Macedonia’s European process,” Rupel said in Skopje.
