Russia and Cyprus have agreed that talks between Belgrade and Pristina over Kosovo should continue. This, the two countries' chiefs of diplomacy said in Moscow today, should lead to a status solution within the norms of international law. Russia, Cyprus push for fresh Kosovo talks "We have a joint approach to the situation regarding Kosovo," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Marcos Kyprianou. He stressed that both countries believe that recognizing the Kosovo Albanians' unilateral independence would not lead to the stabilization of the situation. "We are in favor of renewed negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina in order to find a solution within international law," Lavrov said.
