Sports journalist Mladen Stojovic says he is revolted by the police, who, he says, are trying to trivialize the assault he suffered on Friday night. “Someone is trying make out that what happened was a fall and not an attempted murder. Because if you find someone beaten badly in his flat, you can see that these kinds of injuries could not have been sustained in a fall,” said Stojovic of his attack in Bar on Friday. Assaulted journalist “revolted by MUP statements” The journalist featured in B92’s Insider program that took an in-depth look at the so-called football mafia in Serbia. The police claim that Stojovic told doctors at Bar hospital that he had been alone in his flat and that, most probably, he had fallen over and lost consciousness. It is still a mystery what happened between 22:10 and 23:30 CET on Friday night in Stojovic’s family home in the center of Bar. It is still unclear how both his upper and lower jaw were broken, or how he suffered other injuries to his head and body, as he claims not to remember a thing about the incident. “I have told the inspector all I know on more than one occasion. I told them to give me a lie detector test if they thought for some reason I was hiding something from them,” explains Stojovic. The journalist says that he is trying to remember what happened. “The first clear picture I have from that night is the neuro-psychiatrist, who was examining me two hours after midnight in the Bar hospital,” Stojovic says.
