The National Council for Cooperation with the Hague has adopted a report stating that cooperation thus far has been constructive and successful. The report on Serbia’s cooperation with the Hague Tribunal will be delivered to the UN Security Council, which is also due to consider the first report of new Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz on June 4. "Hague cooperation constructive, successful" "Serbia’s view is that cooperation with the Hague Tribunal can be characterized as constructive and successful: of 46 persons indicted, Serbia has extradited 42 to the Tribunal”, states the National Council’s report. These include two former presidents, one former prime minister, a former head of State Security, as well as a large number of high-ranking military and police officials. The authorities are still very much on the hunt for the four remaining fugitives, as proven by the operation to arrest Stojan Zupljanin on March 26. In this context, the report also highlights the high financial rewards offered for information leading to their location and arrest . Ljajic: Brammertz report unbalanced President of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal Rasim Ljajic says that Chief Prosecutor Brammertz’s report is unbalanced, and says that Serbia will respond by presenting its own special report to the Security Council. "We consider Brammertz’s report to be unbalanced given Serbia’s level of cooperation with the Tribunal thus far,” Ljajic told journalists. He said that Serbia was preparing a thorough report about Hague cooperation that would be submitted to the Security Council as a response to Brammertz’s document. Ljajic reiterated that only 18 of 1,671 Tribunal requests had failed to be fully processed since the court’s foundation. "Of 46 accused, 42 have been extradited. There are four more to go, and we are aware that it is our obligation and in our interests that they end up in the Hague," he stressed. Ljajic said that if a pro-EU cabinet was formed, completing Hague cooperation would be one of the main priorities. “It is one of the main obstacles on our path towards European integration.”
