U.S. Sen. John McCain appeared on "Saturday Night Live," urging the Democrats not to be too quick to pick a presidential nominee. The presumptive Republican nominee appeared both in a mock campaign ad and on the "Weekend Update" segment. McCain tells Democrats to keep fighting He began his commercial by saying the first requirement for a president is being "very, very, very old." He also boasted, with some irony, of his prowess in keeping earmarks and pork barrel spending away from Arizona. "When I became a senator, Arizona had 47,000 miles of paved road," he said. "Now it has 900." Residents of Flagstaff, he "boasted," now have to travel to New Mexico to a post office. On "Weekend Update," he said Democrats should not get caught up in the idea that the party has to come out of the convention with a candidate. In fact, he asked, why settle at all? "I'd be willing to set aside my differences with your party and say 'Hey let's put both of them on the ballot,'" he concluded.
