After Pirot, elementary school students in Novi Sad last week have been involved in violence against one of their schoolmates. Three girls and eight boys, eight graders from an elementary in the provincial capital of Vojvodina, battered and humiliated another girl, recording almost ten minutes of it with their cell phones, daily Blic reported yesterday. Another case of peer violence in schools The victim, who was at one point made to eat grass, was subjected to all this allegedly because "she comes from a different part of town" than her tormentors. As in the case of sexual abuse and assault in Pirot, girls were the main protagonists of violence. Experts note that since the perpetrators are minors, they cannot be subjects to any sanction stronger than that administered by school authorities.
