United Serbia (JS) President Dragan Markovic, a.k.a Palma, declared that he would vote in favor of the SAA once it makes it to parliament for ratification. But Markovic, a figure previously known in the 1990s for his political alliance with kingpin gangster Zeljko Raznatovic a.k.a. Arkan, said that he still did not know if he would become an MP. As for his support for the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), he explained that “without cooperation with Europe there is no future and without foreign investments there are no new jobs.” “I saw that in the Jagodina example,” Markovic said of the central Serbian town he controls, adding that he found relevant Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's statement that it was “better late than never to sign the SAA”.
