The Belgrade newspapers lead with today's elections, described by some as "crucial" in Serbia's recent history. BLIC—"'Kosovo project' excuse to rob state", the daily is critical of some parties, notably the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS). Press: Decision time "Delic sent military secrets to Hague", a series of articles is continued, accusing the Radicals (SRS) candidate for the next defense minister, Bozidar Delic. VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Serbia in elections", says the paper's front page, and reminds that more than 6.7 million eligible voters will today cast their ballots in the parliamentary, provincial and local elections. "Kosovo illusion will burst", says Swiss Confederation Council Foreign Affairs Chairman Dick Marty, who is critical of his country's decision to recognize the Kosovo Albanian's unilateral declaration of secession. GLAS—"Europe is really far away", explores why "why former U.S. Ambassador to Belgrade Michael Polt said that the Western Balkans could join the EU only after 2020". This newspaper looks at what the competition is doing, and says in a front page headline, "Hunt because of May 11", where General Bozidar Delic, ret., denies daily Blic's allegations. "Serbia chooses her course", the election day is announced. KURIR—The tabloid claims that NBS Governor Radovan Jelasic has "banned Serbs from setting up new or buying existing banks in the country": "Get out, Serbs". "Elections in fear!", is about the ballot today in Kosovo. POLITIKA—"Elections for all assemblies", the broadsheet says on the front page, as it brings the usual facts and figures about the parliamentary, provincial and local ballots. The daily also looks at the history of the upcoming Eurovision Contest: "A bit of music, a bit of politics". The student protests from 1968 are looked at under, "Four decades since student demonstrations".
