Head of the “Bosniak list for a European Sandzak” Sulejman Ugljanin has called on his compatriots to unite on May 11, and confirm their national and religious unity. At the list’s central campaign rally in Novi Pazar, Ugljanin criticized his political opponent and leader of the Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP) Rasim Ljajic, saying that “by standing on a list of other political parties, he’s giving away Bosniak votes.” Bosniak politicians call for unity The SDP will stand at the parliamentary elections with the “For a European Serbia” coalition, and at the local elections with the Democratic Party (DS) and other opposition parties. Ugljanin stated that the main goal of his coalition was the formation of a Bosnian deputies’ club within parliament, which would, as he put it, be good for the state and the European community, but most of all for Bosniaks themselves. President of the Sandzak Bosniak Democratic Party Esad Dzudzevic said that “national rights have been enhanced” by forming a Bosniak list, that Serbia’s path to the EU had been traced, while he also expressed his expectation that its representatives would be a strong political force. He called on Ljajic and chief mufti of the Islamic Community in Serbia Muamer Zukorlic to “come to their senses and work for their people, because others, when they did their jobs, would kick them.” President of the Sandzak Social Liberal Party Bajram Omeragic said that he would ask the government to decide on Friday May 9 whether “the Horgos-Pozega highway will go through Pestera or Zlatibor.” Omeragic said that Ljajic would be forgiven provided he too advocated that option.
