Serb Radical Party (SRS) deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic says that the Radicals, in the event of an election victory, “are not planning to isolate Serbia.” Nikolic made the comments in response to a question from Moscow daily Vreme Novosti about whether Serbia was threatened with renewed international isolation. Nikolic: No plans to isolate Serbia In an interview with the Russian daily, he also talked about relations between Serbia and the EU, the possible deployment of Russian bases in Serbia, and an end to Serbian citizens being extradited to the Hague Tribunal should the SRS assume power after the elections. “We plan to develop relations with Serbia’s true friends, among whom, Russia holds a crucial place. Serbia also has to cooperate closely with China, India, Arab and African countries, as well as with the EU. However, we will present the EU with one small condition, that it negotiates with Serbia, and not with one part of it, without Kosovo,” the SRS leader explained. When it was put to him that he not only supported the intensification of relations with Russia but also the deployment of Russian military bases in Serbia, Nikolic said that after the elections, “concrete parameters of cooperation between Serbia and Russia, including military-political ones” would be discussed. Serbia now has to take urgent steps towards Russia, Nikolic added, stating that the Radicals had demanded the ratification of the energy agreement on several occasions, but that President Boris Tadic had “until now refused to ratify it.” According to him, “Serbian politicians have to know that everyone who recognizes Kosovo independence will ultimately end up in prison.” Nikolic added that after May 11, “nobody in Serbia will be indicted by the Hague Tribunal,” and “that not one Serb will be handed over to Hague.” Meanwhile, senior SRS official Gordana Pop Lazic has advocated "youth enlightenment" and a battle with media that support pro-European forces. “We have to work above all to enlighten the younger generation and to nurture them in a patriotic and national spirit. Sadly, we also have to fight against media who help these EU forces and with non-governmental organizations who do the same, because that is not good” Pop Lazic told B92.
