DSS spokesman Andreja Mladenovic says that NATO’s aim is for “Solana’s agreement” to be signed before May 11. This is because, he claims, “they’re scared that ‘For a European Serbia’ will become the opposition after May 11.” "NATO pushing through Solana agreement'" “We won’t allow NATO to claim that anyone in Serbia signed Kosovo’s independence on April 28,” said Mladenovic, adding that “[League of Vojvodina Social Democrats leader Nenad] Canak, [President Boris] Tadic, and [Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar] Djelic’s signature is exclusively a party matter of that coalition.” Mladenovic added that “Canak will probably sign ‘Solana’s agreement’ on April 28 on behalf of the Canak-Democratic Party (DS)-G17 Plus coalition, as the coalition is hiding him, is not taking him on promotions, so that he can, without wasting any time, go and sign the agreement.” According to the DSS spokesman, Canak has the best chance of signing ‘Solana’s agreement’ as “he claims that he sees with his own eyes that Kosovo is independent.” Serbian citizens, he said, had to know that NATO was trying to interpret the signing of ‘Solana’s agreement’ on April 28 as Serbia’s recognition of Kosovo as the first NATO state. “Our position is categorical, regardless of whether Canak, Tadic or Djelic signs ‘Solana’s agreement’: that agreement is exclusively binding for that coalition, and certainly not the state of Serbia,” Mladenovic insisted. The DSS spokesman that this was so, because signing “Solana’s agreement” directly contravened the resolution adopted by parliament.
