Arrests of a company's executives and the sale of Genex property dominate the front pages of the papers today. ALO—"New Belgrade Miskograd", says the tabloid, as it reports from yesterday's auction that saw Miroslav Miskovic of Delta Holding team up with a Dutch company to buy Genex property in New Belgrade. Press: Delta acquisition, Chicken Mafia in making "New electricity bills arriving", is about over 7 percent increase in the price of electric power. "Miroslav Zivanovic behind bars", the daily also leads with an article about the arrest of the Agroziv company director. Although Zivanovic and a group of others are accused of fraud and abuse of office, and the company they run is in the poultry business, the tabloids have not yet dubbed the case, the Chicken Mafia. BLIC—"Miskovic to make Plaza out of Continental", more on the Genex property sale, that includes the Continental Hotel, costing Miskovic just under EUR 149mn. "Agroziv owner arrested", says that the chicken farm and associated companies committed fraud in the amount of EUR 18mn. BORBA—"Who bakes the price", wonders the daily's front page in a report about the increase in the price of bread. "Free Greek visas?", says that Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic visited Athens yesterday where he made the suggestion to his Greek hosts. VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Delta buys Conti", more on the auction in Belgrade yesterday. "One side beats, other heals", explores security in Serbia's healthcare institutions, in the wake of the Kraljevo incident over the weekend, when a group of hooligans burst into a hospital. "Prices race without measure!" warns that March price hikes will spell inflation. GAZETA—"Dzaja from prison to parliament", reports about announcements from the Union of the Roma to include Dragan Dzajic, in prison and under investigation for fraud and abuse of office, into their election list. "Velja and Voja lying in empty room", DS official Dragan Sutanovac says of Velimir Ilic and Vojislav Kostunica, in a campaign that is not getting any cleaner. GLAS JAVNOSTI—"Miskovic buys Genex for EUR 148.8mn", the front page says. "Lawsuits on ice until fall?", explores that will happen with the lawsuits that Belgrade announced it would file against those countries that have recognized Kosovo's unilateral declaration. DANAS—"Miskovic buys Genex property for EUR 148.8mn", the newspapers are not overly creative when choosing their headlines for the reports from yesterday's auction. "Three months for negotiations with Deutsche Bank", says that the caretaker government has decided not to break the concession contract for the construction of the Horgos-Pozega highway. Meanwhile, Agroziv and their director are on another front page: "EUR 18mn withheld from budget". KURIR—"Bandits", the tabloid says, as it reports about the sale of Smederevo's Sartid steelworks to U.S. Steel without a tender in 2003, and blames Mladjan Dinkic and his G17 Plus. "Marine Sutanovac", is about the DSS reaction to outgoing defense chief and DS official Dragan Sutanovac's accusations yesterday. POLITIKA—"Genex, too, belongs to Miskovic", more on the Delta Holding owner's latest buy. "Half a million people in Serbia live in poverty", says that one in three people in the southeastern parts of the country faces dire financial conditions, while Belgraders enjoy the highest standard of living. Finally, Kosovo makes it to one front page: "Ban Ki-moon: Resolution 1244 still stands". PRESS—"Billions stolen", the tabloid means of Serbian dinars, and brings the photos of Agroziv's arrested executives. "Delta buys Genex", says another headline.
