Former Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic stepped into the Carla Del Ponte book controversy yesterday. Yesterday, Svilanovic commended the former Hague chief prosecutor for disclosing in her book, “Hunt: Me and War Criminals”, details of suspected crimes by ethnic Albanians against Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo in 1999. Former FM welcomes Del Ponte revelations He confirmed that Serbian authorities had presented to Del Ponte in 2001 all the available evidence on crimes, including a list of possible mass graves and secret prisons in Kosovo and northern Albania. Nebojsa Covic, who used to head the Coordinating Center for Kosovo at the time, had also confirmed this, Svilanovic said. “Serbia never got any response to this evidence, and it is therefore good that Del Ponte wrote it in her book, as it is never too late to shed light on crimes,” he said. The investigation initiated by the Serbian war crimes prosecution is expected to reveal ethnic Albanian crimes against Kosovo Serbs, including trade in their body parts, and on the reasons why Del Ponte, KFOR and UNMIK concealed those crimes for nine years. According to the prosecution, Del Ponte and her former spokeswoman Florence Hartmann might become witnesses if these crimes are prosecuted.
