The family of Hague fugitive Stojan Zupljanin has called on him to give himself up to the authorities. The sons and wife of Zupljanin say that they are “in their own prison” and that “all their chances of a normal life have been taken away.” Hague fugitive’s family calls for his surrender “We are putting up with great pressure from the police and international military forces, as a result of which we cannot function normally and are falling into increasingly deeper physical and psychological turmoil,” the family states in a letter given to Banja Luka newspapers. The family has confirmed the authenticity of the letter for the Tanjug news agency. Zupljanin was the former chief of the Banja Luka Center for Public Security. He is wanted by the Hague Tribunal for alleged crimes against humanity and violating the laws and customs of war, persecution, murder, torture, inhumane acts, deportation and destruction of cities and villages. The indictment was issued on December 17, 1999 and stamped on July 13, 2001. Zupljanin, along with Serb leaders in Bosnia and Croatia Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, are among the Hague Tribunal’s most wanted fugitives who have yet to be located or apprehended.
