A leading analyst says that Bosnia-Herzegovina’s problems will be harder to solve in the long-run than Kosovo’s. “Looking at the long-term situation, I think that the problems in Bosnia-Herzegovina will be harder to solve,” predicted Special Coordinator for the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe Erhard Busek. “Bosnia bigger problem than Kosovo” Busek added that “NATO and the high representative are the guarantors for the unity of the country’s two entities, but they must also grow together from the inside.” The analyst added that all the west Balkan countries should be accorded EU candidate status. “We must wait for ratification of the Lisbon reform treaty. Currently, all the governments of the EU are blocked on this matter. The west Balkans countries should be given candidate status as soon as possible, simply because of the fact that they are all addressing the completion of the set conditions,” Busek said. The analyst added that in this way, “all the countries of south-east Europe would be on a clear path towards the EU.” “Some would need more time, some would need less to reach that goal. There is no alternative other than to accept those countries into the EU,” he concluded.
