Serbian police (MUP) officers today confiscated more than 10 kilograms of heroin. They also arrested Italian national Antonio Pavone, 57, in a raid at the Batrovci border crossing with Croatia. Police seize over 10 kilos of heroin The MUP issued a statement in Belgrade this evening, specifying that the policemen found the drugs, distributed in 21 packages, weighing a total of 10.8 kilograms, in a car with Italian license plates, driven by Pavone. Police believe the raid and the arrest have cut another drug smuggling route through Serbia. The statement also said that the suspect two days ago first traveled from central Serbia to Kosovo, where he bought the heroin, to then cross to Macedonia, returning to Serbia via the Presevo crossing. Pavone will now be turned over to the on duty judge at the District Court in Sremska Mitrovica.
