Boris Tadic's Democrats (DS) say it is "too early" to say if they will form a coalition ahead of the May vote. "The Democratic Party has from its very establishment defined several key issues, above all the democratization of the society, preservation of the territorial integrity and, of course, as a means to realize the key goal – better life for citizens – acceleration of the process of European integration," the party whip, Nada Kolundzija, said today. Democrats: Still early for coalitions As for the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) pre-election coalition partners New Serbia (NS) and their leader Velimir Ilic, he announced today that the May parliamentary vote "will certainly see coalitions". Ilic listed the DSS, "and possibly the Serbian Renewal Movement [SPO]", as potential partners for his party. Vuk Draskovic's SPO failed to cross the five percent threshold in the January 2007 ballot. Today, Ilic told B92 that "any other coalition would be unnatural and dysfunctional" for his party. "We will talk to the DSS, we have good relations because we have similar programs, we stand for respect of the constitution and the wholeness of Serbia," the infrastructure minister said. "Europe – yes, but with respect for Serbia, Serbia to Europe with Kosovo. We do not wish to cajole anyone, to tell young people that we will give them visas. We wish to provide them with a stable, strong state," Ilic concluded.
