Barack Obama says that he will work on securing peace and stability in Kosovo if he becomes the new U.S. president. “Peace and stability in Kosovo is the only real way to secure a solution that is acceptable to both sides,” the candidate for the Democratic Party nomination at the upcoming U.S. presidential elections says in a letter addressed to President of the Serbian Unity Congress Mirjana Samardzija. Obama urges peace and stability in Kosovo According to Tanjug, Obama states in the letter that “even in the absence of a united agreement, the rights of minorities and the need to protect historical and religious sites are not matters that require any negotiation.” The Democrat presidential hopeful wrote the letter in response to Samardzija’s call to give his opinion on an issue that was vital to the U.S.’s Serb community. He adds that, if elected, he will continue to support the Dayton Accords, especially those parts of the agreement relating to rights and responsibilities within Bosnia-Herzegovina’s entities. “I will also continue to support the guarantees of the Erdut agreement and clearly state that I expect all sides in the agreement, including Croatia, to respect their obligations,” Obama pledges in the letter.
