The newspapers are today reporting about the latest on Kosovo, and the deadly fire in Novi Sad. ALO—"And now, partition", says the front page headline, as it reports about the Kosovo Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence yesterday, which Belgrade immediately rejected as illegal. Press: Declaration, annulment, partition, fire "Burned locked in café", is about the tragedy in Novi Sad, now a suspected arson, that claimed the lives of eight young people. BORBA—"Kosovo-fake state", leads the daily. Another front page items looks at the housing situation in Belgrade, where, despite the ever increasing construction, there are "Not enough apartments". VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Phony state", another Belgrade newspaper that leaves no doubt as to how it sees yesterday's declaration of Kosovo's secession. The article says that ethnic Albanians, with the U.S. and EU consent, broke international law. "Seven young people burn in fire", is about the Novi Sad tragedy. GAZETA—"Now what?" the daily would like to know, in a Kosovo piece. It also reports about the rioting in Belgrade last night that injured 20 people by the time the newspaper went to press. "Suspect detained in arson case," is about the Novi Sad fire. KURIR—One huge headline across the entire front page: "Who can snatch Kosovo from my soul". The tabloid speculates about the deadly café blaze: "Eight killed out of revenge!" POLITIKA—"The day when Kosovo is stolen", the newspaper leads on the front page. "Tadic at Security Council emergency session", says another headline. "Seven dead, three injured in fire", also gives the death toll from the Novi Sad disaster that has in the meantime increased by one more victim. PRESS—"Albanians declare independence with help from U.S and EU", the front page says. "Riots in Belgrade", is about the protesters' clashes with police in the capital that lasted for full six hours yesterday.
