Awards given for “most European” Serbians

Vojin Dimitrijevic and Nenad Popovic were chosen as "the most-European Serbian of 2007". Dimitrijevic received the award for politics while Popovic was awarded for economic achievements. Popovic is the chief of the economic team for Kosovo and South Serbia. Awards given for “most European” Serbians The awards are given out for the greatest accomplishments is economic, cultural and educational development and for "the most European projects and the most European foreign citizen living in Serbia." The award is handed out by the European Movement of Serbia with support from the City of Belgrade. The recognition for political achievements was given to Dimitrijevic, who is the director of the Belgrade Center for Human Rights. He said that the award perhaps should be changed to “the last European”. In Dimitrijevic's words, "when the European movement was founded in 1992, Serbia had a lot of enemies in Europea, but I didn't think that the same would be true today." Popovic said of his award for economic achievements, that it is proof that recently much has been done in getting Serbia closer to the EU, Russia and U.S. Popovic said "a lot has been done economically for Kosovo", but that if the province proclaims independence, "its economy will fall apart." Head of the OSCE mission in Serbia Hans Ola Urstad received the award for the best project and Dean of the Megatrend University Mica Jovanovic received the award for cultural and educational achievements. An award for economic achievement was also given to President of the Agrobanka Board of Executives Dusan Antonic.
