Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel says the arrival of an EU mission to Kosovo is inevitable. Rupel, whose country is currently chairing the EU, said that the EU mission would arrive in Kosovo, no matter what happened over the coming days, weeks or months, to guarantee the province's everyday functioning, while the UN Mission would slowly withdraw from Kosovo. Rupel: EU Kosovo mission inevitable In an interview with Vienna daily Die Presse, the Slovenian foreign minister said that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had announced his support for the EU mission. When asked whether a decision to establish a civil mission in Kosovo would be taken at the EU ministerial meeting on February 18, he replied that the basic political decision already existed. "What is missing are technical issues, documents. I see no more complications there," underscored Rupel. The Slovenian foreign minister added that he did not expect any new problems after the independence declaration. “Local or regional conflicts, but not major ones, are possible,” said Rupel, adding that he might also be mistaken.
