Velimir Ilic says that if Bozidar Djelic signs the political agreement with the EU tomorrow, the government will fall. “[Deputy Prime Minister] Djelic will in that case be proclaimed a traitor,” the infrastructure minister warned. "Gov't to collapse if Djelic signs EU deal” Ilic told daily Vecernje Novosti that if the government fell it would be best to hold early parliamentary elections at the same time as the local and provincial elections on May 11. He said that the coalition of his New Serbia (NS) party and Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica’s Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) would never again form a coalition with the Democratic Party (DS) and G17 Plus. Ilic called the EU’s decision to send a mission to Kosovo, taken a day after the presidential elections, bully-boy tactics, adding that he believed it was all an “agreement between Europe and Tadic." “It is now obvious to everyone in Serbia why Tadic was in such a rush to hold presidential elections. We pointed to that danger throughout the election campaign. Our proposal is to freeze relations with the EU until the Union clearly sets out its position on Kosovo,” Ilic said. He added that a message had arrived through diplomatic channels that Russia “will no longer be able to defend Serbia’s interests if it signs the agreement with the EU, which leads to the arrival of its mission in Kosovo.” Ilic's harsh comments came in the wake of yesterday's turmoil in the ruling coalition.
