Benita Ferrero Waldner says that the OSCE mission’s further presence in Kosovo could be under threat. The European commissioner said at a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation’s permanent council that terminating the OSCE mission to Kosovo would affect the most vulnerable communities – the ethnic minorities – and called on everyone involved in the Kosovo status process to think hard before making any decisions. “OSCE mission to Kosovo in jeopardy” “For all communities in Kosovo, including the Serb minority, the work of the OSCE on protection, and developing and restoring faith in institutions is of key importance,” Ferrero Waldner said. She stressed that Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic had publicly stated that no violence would be used in Kosovo, and added that no one expected violence in the province.
