A special polling station has opened at the King Milutin primary school in Gracanica. The polling station is at the disposal of displaced persons, and about 30 Serbs from Pristina have so far voted there. Voting in Kosovo without incidents Around 45,000 Serbs used to live in the provincial capital prior to 1999. Today, there are some 65 families remaining, and a coach was laid on to take them to Gracanica to vote. There are some 300 displaced persons registered at that polling station, and 130 had voted by midday. In statements given after voting, the majority of Serbs stressed that they expected the new president to fight for Kosovo’s survival within Serbia’s borders and to improve the standard of living, particularly as regards safety and freedom of movement for Serbs living in the province. Elsewhere in the province, the region of Kosovska Mitrovica saw a 42 percent turnout by 5 p.m., the Electoral Commission (RIK) said, while Kosovsko Pomoravlje area reported 58.9 percent of registered voters take it to the polls. A total of 122,861 citizens have been registered and given the right to vote in Kosovo. Voting has passed by without incident thus far, and citizens are performing their duty in ever greater numbers.
