New Serbia presidential candidate Velimir Ilic says his aim is to create a strong Vojvodina in a strong Serbia. “Serbia allocates Vojvodina all it needs, and all that is stipulated by the Constitution. The problem is that the provincial authorities want all the money to go via them, without making accounts available to the government or the competent ministries. We can’t have that,“ said Ilic in Sombor. Ilic wants "strong Vojvodina in strong Serbia" In his opinion, there are places in Vojvodina with only a few hundred residents who receive bigger subsidies than other towns. “There are many unresolved problems in Vojvodina, such as bypasses, fly-overs and it’s not important who’s going to announce the tender, but that the projects get completed," he added. Meanwhile, List for Sandzak official Bajro Omeragic has announced his party’s support for Ilic at the presidential elections. Omeragic explained that the New Serbia candidate deserved support, as he had “invested most in Sandzak.“ “We call on voters to support Velimir Ilic, as we feel we are indebted to the minister who has invested and done so much in our region to improve infrastructure, which is a necessary condition for Sandzak’s economic development,“ he told a press conference. Omeragic said that EUR 100mn had been invested in Sandzak, Eur 40-50mn of which on roads and bypasses, with a further EUR 26.7mn invested in upgrading telephone communications throughout the region. He said that fast European integration would be the criterium for deciding on whom to support in the second round of elections. Velimir Ilic (Beta)
