Six Hamas members were killed in an Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip pre-dawn Wednesday, Palestinian sources say. The news that came from Hamas and Palestinian medical officials was confirmed by the Israeli army (IDF), which said that troops from the Golani Brigade were operating in the area near Gaza City and that they had fired, together with IAF aircraft, at gunmen who approached the soldiers. Palestinians also fired anti-tank missiles at the soldiers. None were wounded. The army force was located about 400 yards inside the Gaza Strip, Palestinian witnesses said. Palestinians on Tuesday fired two Kassam rockets from the Gaza Strip into the western Negev. Army Radio reported that one of the rockets hit inside a residential area in Sderot while the other landed in an open area outside the town. There were no reports of wounded or damage.
