The U.S. ambassador to Montenegro says that country's judiciary can soon expect assistance from Washington. Roderick Moore made the comments for the Montenegrin media, to explain that an experienced American states attorney will arrive in Podgorica to help the authorities there prosecute organized crime and corruption suspects. Podgorica: U.S. announces help to prosecution "Our country has an enormous positive experience in putting those who committed criminal acts or abused public trust behind bars." "We will set up an office with the embassy where a U.S. prosecutor with experience in this area will work," Moore said, and explained the project will likely go ahead in the summer. The U.S. expert will work with Montenegro's judiciary and other institutions. "Not only in order to organize seminars and training," the ambassador clarified for the Montenegrin reporters, "but also to support efforts made by your institutions to punish perpetrators of various criminal acts, including corruption. We were already fairly successful with this in Belgrade, where we cooperated with a war crimes court." "As it gets closer to NATO and the EU, Montenegro will find itself more and more under the microscope, to find out how it copes with these challenges as a state and society." "International community and citizens will keep a closer eye not only on how [Montenegro] legislates and adopts action plans, but also how it implements them," Moore concluded.
