Dragan Sutanovac expects the government’s prevailing opinion to be in favor of EU integration. Sutanovac told B92 that the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) would have a “very bad political stance” if it conditioned the signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) on the recognition of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that such an initiative “has something to do with the elections.” “Government predominantly in favor of signing SAA” “Of course we do not agree with the EU if they support the recognition of Kosovo’s independence, but we do not have the right to sacrifice the future of the Serbian people,” Sutanovac said. “Of course we do not agree with the EU if they support the recognition of Kosovo’s independence, but we do not have the right to sacrifice the future of the Serbian people,” Šutanovac said.

Šutanovac said that the Democratic Party (DS) would not forgo Serbia’s European goals, and that it would continue its work based on the five principles adopted when the government was formed, according to which the government has operated thus far.

Asked about the possibility of the DSS not supporting DS candidate Boris Tadić at the presidential elections, Šutanovac said that the DSS has several options – to support its own candidate, not support the DS candidate, support another candidate or to boycott the elections.
