EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana will discuss Kosovo with UN chief Ban Ki-moon Wednesday. Solana will also confer on further moves in resolving the Kosovo status crisis with a number of other UN officials, Tanjug has learned from its sources with the UN in New York. Solana, Ban on Kosovo Wednesday Solana will arrive in New York from Annapolis Wednesday, where he is to attend an international conference on the Middle East. His visit is to take place only several weeks after Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Marie Guehenno, EU top official Stephen Lehne and the two future heads of the EU mission in Kosovo, Dutch diplomat Peter Feith and French General Yves de Kermabon, began negotiations on the way in which the new EU mission would take over UNMIK's responsibilities. According to the UN officials the arrival of the Contact Group Troika - Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko, Frank Wisner and Wolfgang Ischinger - in New York is expected to take place only a day or two ahead of the presentation of the report to the UN secretary general, after which Ban will inform the Security Council on the mediation mission. It is common for UN Security Council ambassadors to be given a week to consider the report before beginning a new round of consultations on the Kosovo status in the most powerful body of the world organization.
