Riza Halimi says that deployment of further troops in south Serbia would lead to the region’s militarization. The president of the ethnic Albanian Party for Democratic Action said that Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac’s announced deployment of a further 600 professional soldiers to Presevo and Bujanovac was a "resumption of the region’s militarization". Valley Albanians fear "increased militarization" Halimi, the only Albanian MP from the south of Serbia, felt that such statements showed that the earlier concept of resolving problems in that part of Serbia had been "abandoned". “It’s worrying, particularly those new statements that, at a given moment, communications could be blocked over dissatisfaction with the progress of the Kosovo talks. That would signal a ghettoization of the Albanians in the region, and would not bode well,“ he said. “Instead of working to solve problems with the economy or in health and education, other processes are unfolding here. Halimi, the only Albanian MP from the south of Serbia, felt that such statements showed that the earlier concept of resolving problems in that part of Serbia had been "abandoned".

“It’s worrying, particularly those new statements that, at a given moment, communications could be blocked over dissatisfaction with the progress of the Kosovo talks. That would signal a ghettoization of the Albanians in the region, and would not bode well,“ he said.
