A ceremony was held Friday in Slovakia to honor the Serbian soldiers fallen in WW1. The Armistice Day was thus marked with a religious ceremony conducted by the Serb Orthodox Church (SPC) dignitaries, dedicated to the souls of the Serbian troops that lost their lives and were buried in that country. Delegations visit Serbian military cemetery in Slovakia Members of the Serbian Diaspora in Slovakia, local officials, Serbian Ambassador Danko Prokic, a Slovak-Serbian friendship association representatives, all attended the ceremony in a town some 80 kilometers south of Bratislava. The Serbian military cemetery in Velky Meder is the second largest of its kind abroad, were 5,300 Serbian soldiers are buried. Only the one in Thessaloniki, Greece, is larger. Serbia fought the WW1 against the Central Powers on the side of the Allies, to lose over 700,000 people, out of which some 270,000 soldiers.
