Serbian security forces will increase their presence in areas near the Macedonian border in the south. According to the FoNet news agency, security forces have sent reinforcements to the Presevo and Bujanovac municipalities afteryesterday’s clashbetween Macedonian police and a criminal group led by escaped convict Ljirim Jakupi, an ethnic Albanian originally from Bujanovac. Heightened police presence in south Jakupi was a close associate of leaders of the former Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac. The clashes yesterday between the criminal group and Macedonian police lasted over ten hours. It has been confirmed that leader Jakupi was neither among the dead or arrested, and remains at large. According to latest reports, six members of the criminal-terrorist group were killed and 13 arrested. People living in villages nearby stated gun shots could be heard last night as well, but that they had not ventured out to have a look.

Heightened police presence in south

Jakupi was a close associate of leaders of the former Liberation Army of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac.

The clashes yesterday between the criminal group and Macedonian police lasted over ten hours. It has been confirmed that leader Jakupi was neither among the dead or arrested, and remains at large.

According to latest reports, six members of the criminal-terrorist group were killed and 13 arrested.

People living in villages nearby stated gun shots could be heard last night as well, but that they had not ventured out to have a look.
