The German government still hopes for a negotiated solution to the Kosovo status talks, officials said Tuesday. German government spokesman Ulrich Wilhelm told reporters that regardless of the present problems, the opportunity should be used "to achieve success in negotiations ultimately," the German news agency DDP reported. Germany hopes for Kosovo compromise Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger rejected media speculation that the German government had already decided to recognize Kosovo without delay in the event of Pristina unilaterally declaring independence.
