The Global Competitiveness Index 2007-2008, a report issued by the World Economic Forum, ranks Serbia 91st with an index of 3.78.

The Global Competitiveness Index 2007-2008, a report issued by the World Economic Forum, ranks Serbia 91st with an index of 3.78. Of all the countries in the region, only Bosnia and Albania, at numbers 106 and 109 respectively, are placed lower. Serbia: Poor competitiveness Montenegro has made it to the 82 spot, while Bulgaria is at 79, Romania occupies number 74 on the list, with Croatia and Hungary at 57 and 47 respectively. Slovenia is placed at number 39. Last year, before the breakup of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro, that loose federation made it to the spot number 87 in the list. The United States tops the overall ranking this year, with Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Finland and Singapore following.
