Veterans postpone hunger strike

Kursumlija war veterans have decided to postpone their hunger strike because of ill health on the part of some strikers. The veterans have been on hunger strike for the past two weeks in Kursumlija town hall in protest at unpaid wages dating back to time spent in Kosovo during the war there in 1999. "The health of a number of our comrades has seriously been threatened so we’ve decided to call a temporary postponement to the strike. However, if, in the meantime, our demands are not met, we will resume our hunger strike. This time we’ll go all the way, to death," announced one of the strike leaders, Dragan Milenkovic. The reservists who were mobilised in 1999 have stopped their strike, but not their protest. They have decided to remain inside the town hall. Another rally of Kursumlija veterans has been organized for today. They plan to join another meeting of veterans scheduled for midday in the town of Prokuplje.
