Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko says that he is not very optimistic of finding a compromise solution for Kosovo. The Russian envoy from the international Troika, made up of representatives from the United States, Russia and the European Union, said Monday that the stances of the Serbian and Albanian negotiation teams were too far apart. Kharchenko not hopeful of Kosovo compromise “Honestly, I am not very optimistic, but hope still exists. The situation is made even more difficult by the completely opposing positios,” Kharchenko said. He said that the agenda for the resumption of the talks would be cemented after a meeting of Contact Group foreign ministers. “The messages coming from this meeting should have a strong bearing on finding a compromise solution for Kosovo,” Kharchenko said. He said that the Troika was putting pressure on all sides to refrain from making comments outside the negotiations that could have a negative effect on the process. “Now it is most important to have a political atmosphere of acceptance during the process,” Kharchenko said.
